Keep It Together Records Mega Post

Wow! I almost forgot about this thing. Anyway. Today I'm going to post the rest of my favorite Keep It Together Records releases. You go check out the rest of their releases. They're all awesome but mostly you can find them on the internet easily. Bookmark their website and bandcamp as well because Jacob is constantly releasing awesome music. Their bandcamp is here: http://kitr.bandcamp.com/ And always find a way to donate if you can. Jacob understands the importance of DIY music (not a lot of people do) and he's contributing a lot of his energy and money to the scene. Not only the bands deserve some attention, he does as well. BTW right-click links to open in a new page. I was too lazy to go through and do that in the html. Enjoy.

Shat Shorts - Seersucker and Sundresses (2010)

Shat Shorts is a band from Washington DC that packs a lot of punch. Their music is insanely aggressive. The style of screaming reminds me a lot of Ceremony in that it's pretty spastic. And man, that guitar tone is just brutal. Definitely worth checking out if you like any type of punk music.

genre: hardcore/punk/post-punk
ffo: Lewd Acts, Ceremony, Former Thieves

Enemies - We've Been Talking (2010)

Enemies is all the way from Kilcoole, Ireland. Ah, my native heritage. They don't let me down either. The music is a mix of indie-pop, math-rock, post-rock, and a dash of emo. Very melodic guitar riffs, dat smooth bass for love making, and drum beats that would raise Mike Kinsella's eyebrow. Unfortunately this album is instrumental. Would've loved to see some emo vocals on this. But at the same time this way you can appreciate the music more. By all means check this out. I love that picture too.

genre: math-rock/indie-pop
ffo: The Speed of Sound in Seawater, This Town Needs Guns, Loose Lips Sink Ships, Toe

Malegoat - To Face The Music (2011)

Malegoat hails all the way from Japan! One day I will go to Japan just to hang out with these dudes. They're a mix of math-rock and emo. A lot of noodely and some emo screaming. If you haven't heard of this band you're seriously missing out. So much energy. Check it out!

genre: math-rock/emo/indiemo
ffo: Snowing, Algernon Cadwallader, Glocca Morra

Your City/State - Discog/raphy (2011)

Your City/State was from Rockford, IL. You know what that means. They're one of the bands that happened before Joie de Vivre and share similar members. Brandon and Chris are two of my best friends so this cassette means a lot to me. Steve rules too. Anyway, this is a more raw and pop-punk alternative to Joie de Vivre. Really catchy stuff. Check it out!

Dude Japan - The Things That Matter... (2011)

Dude Japan is from Long Island, NY. They're mostly indie/pop-rock but they have a hint of that signature Long Island emo sound. My favorite part is probably the vocals. A lot of awesome harmonies. Oh, and one of the dudes helps run Rok Lok Record, I think? Either way fuck yeah. This band rules.

genre: indie-rock/pop-rock/emo
ffo: The Clippers, You Blew It!, For Serious This Time

A Garden Overgrown - The Lost Art Of Conversation (2011)

A Garden Overgrown is a post-rock/emo from Maryland. Musically they're very ambient as expected from a post-rock band. The vocals and lyrics are pretty darn emo though. Overall I think this record is really good. Very chill. Fans of the Appleseed Cast will enjoy this the most, I think.

genre: post-rock/emo
ffo: The Appleseed Cast, Moving Mountains, Explosions in the Sky, Prawn

Rapid Cities - Peripheries (2011)

Rapid Cities was an emo band from New Jersey. This band is really good. Honestly, you just have to listen. I don't have a download link for this and I'm too lazy to rip my cassette so just purchase this mo-fo if you like it.

genre: emo
ffo: Luck Of Aleia, Rites of Spring, The Pine

For The Agenda - The Downfall

For The Agenda is the solo project of Anton. He's in a lot of great bands like Monument, Shat Shorts, and was in the Summer We Went West and Dawn Treader. Fuck, right?

Your Neighbour The Liar - Your Neighbour The Liar (2011)

Your Neighbour the Liar is from fucking Scotland. They play awesome math-rock/emo type thing. Definitely one of my favorite KITR releases.

More Than Skies - The Liar, The Puppet, The Fox (2011)

More Than Skies originated as a solo project of Adam Tomlinson (also in the amazing Huntington, NY band Sleep Bellum Sonno). The record is a bit different from SBS but there's still a lot of that style there. The record amazes me because parts of it are beautiful and others are eerie. It's a very diverse record with great songwriting all around. All the times I've met Adam he's only been the best dude. Honestly, it took me a bit to get used to Adam's voice but once I did it hit me hard. Powerful stuff.

genre: folk/ambient

Bloom - Bloom (2011)

I had the pleasure of playing with Bloom at Joie de Vivre's last show (I'm pretty sure that's where this picture is from). They really impressed the shit out of me. Like Weezer but better.

genre: pop-punk/indie
ffo: Joyce Manor, Weezer, Green Day

Monument is a great twinkely band from Washington, D.C. This is a boner EP. Check it.

Swear Words - No Blankets! (2011)

Fucking Swear Words. This band was amazing. I've had the pleasure of playing with this band twice. Brian is the brother of Warren Franklin and he's got his brother's talent. The other members are all rad dudes as well. Swear Words played a style of emo that's growing increasingly popular dude to the revival thing going on. However, somehow, they pulled it off better than most. The energy, the musicianship, the lyrics. Amazing. Sadly, they recently played their last show. This EP was the only thing they released to my knowledge. I hope some new rad bands will come out of that.
